Confessions of an (alleged) book banner
Lt. Gov. candidate Micah Beckwith on whether he's read John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, the gubernatorial candidates, and whether the Bible should be re-shelved.
Micah Beckwith—a Noblesville pastor pursuing the novel strategy of running for lieutenant governor in which partisan delegates and not voters make the choice—is no stranger to controversy.
He has promised to be a “thorn in the flesh” of any governor he serves with who fails to pursue socially conservative policies. He said God told him he sent the Jan. 6 protestors to the Capitol.
And more recently, the former 5th congressional district Republican candidate has helped fuel national headlines as a member of the Hamilton East Public Library Board, championing the re-shelving of books into the adult section.
In a wide-ranging interview with IMPORTANTVILLE, lightly edited for length and clarity, Beckwith defends ex-Attorney General Curtis Hill against groping allegations, criticizes Republican Sen. Todd Young as a tool of the progressive left, and says the Bible should not be available in the kids or teen sections at public libraries.
