Campaign notebook dump: Democrat Joe Hogsett has met his match in Republican Jefferson Shreve.
Joe Hogsett and Jefferson Shreve—the Democratic incumbent mayor of Indianapolis and his wealthy Republican businessman challenger—were a study in contrasts Tuesday.
Hogsett worked polling places across the city, ferried around by an off duty Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department captain and a comms staffer in a Honda Accord. Shreve hewed closer to his native South Side, rolling up to the Perry Township Government Center in his all-electric Mercedes Benz, along with his wife, who drove a separate Mercedes-Benz—a sight Hogsett volunteers caught glimpse of and circulated among campaign staffers. Shreve worked the polling site for several hours, shaking hands and talking to voters.
