Happy Election Day from Indianapolis, where I’m talking with voters at polling places and will be tracking results when polls her close at 6 p.m. About 10 polling locations in Marion County opened a little late after poll workers didn’t have keys for voting machines, but voting is mostly going smoothly, according to Russell Hollis, deputy director of the Marion County Clerk’s Office.
A source familiar with turnout data tells me: “Most of the long lines are in southside vote centers, perhaps a harbinger of a blue wave with early voting and Republicans showing up on election day. Midday turnout shows Marion County on pace for 2016 turnout, which would mean in-person votes would be a minority of all ballots cast this year.”
I’ll be focusing on Indiana’s open 5th Congressional District seat, as well as an attorney general’s race in which Democrats hope to gain their only statewide seat. This morning, I witnessed Democratic candidate Christina Hale win over an undecided voter.
Later this evening, I’ll be at a socially distanced Election Night Victory Celebration with the Indiana GOP. Democrats will be hosting a Virtual Election Night Watch Party at 7 p.m.

Have you encountered many voters confused about whether they can vote in person after requesting and receiving an absentee ballot? I was told by a poll worker that I wasn't able to vote in person after receiving an absentee ballot—they didn't say at all that I could surrender it and vote in person upon doing so if I wanted to.
